Heather Headley’s Gospel Debut

R&B chanteuse and Broadway performer Heather Headley is all set to make her gospel debut in January with Audience of One. The EMI Gospel set finds Headley teaming up with Keith Thomas (CeCe Winans, Amy Grant) and singing songs that reference her faith. “When I was about ten years old we moved into the manse directly above the church,” Headley says. Some of my earliest memories are of singing in that little church. It was my playground.” The first single, a remake of the Commodores classic “Jesus Is Love,” features label mate Smokie Norful.

I just heard this remake for the very first time and I thought they sang it wonderfully!
Sometimes when new artist remake classic songs that the public know and love, they don’t do justice to it – and it makes you wonder why mess up something that wasn’t broken, but in this case, they did justice to the song.

I love this version of the song. My husband and I are renewing our vows this year and I’ve changed the song that we are walking to the alter to this song. Beautifully sang in praise!
