National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

Description: March 10 is Harriet Tubman Day and Women and Girls HIV Awareness Day. In Tacoma WA at the Theatre on the Square at 2PM and 7PM, A Woman of Action- Harriet Tubman is a dramatic historical portrayal of Harriet Tubman. This program features stories about Harriet Tubman’s determination for self-emancipation, her compassion to help others, her advocacy for women rights. By sharing her life as a woman who took action when needed to make a difference, women and girls are empowered to take actions for their own health against HIV/AIDS and to have compassion for others living with this disease. Karol Brown, MPH, RD Storyteller and James Brown, Storyteller, Singer, use stories and songs to bring audiences as close to meeting Harriet Tubman as you will ever be. This event will open with a presentation on Women and Girls and HIV/AIDS and the program brochure includes resources and information on HIV/AIDS in the community. The cost is $15.00 per ticket with $3.00 each ticket going to support the Pierce County AIDS Foundation’s Unity Now program. This program is a HIV/AIDS prevention program for African American women in Tacoma Pierce County WA.
