Back in the day I was a lunch line rapper / after that I guess I was a punch line rapper / then I got saved and sometime after / ya boy came back as a frontline rapper… I’m out here preachin’ Christ on the frontlines / and no it ain’t about rockin’ stages / ‘coz some of my engagements are out on the pavements.

These words from Lecrae’s “After the Music Stops” signify an underground movement that in the last several years may finally be coming into its own. And if that is the case, the artist behind those words is one of the reasons why, or so his record sales say.

In just shy of five years, Lecrae Moore (better known as “Lecrae”), has seen two out three of his albums chart in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. With multiple sales chart appearances, his third CD, Rebel—released in September of 2008—soared to the top of the Billboard charts, becoming the highest debuting album in the Christian rap industry.

In 2007, Holy South Records/EMI recording artist, Mr. Del began a new and innovative conference called, “The Rapture” Hip-Hop Conference bringing Christian independent artists, national recording artists, and entertainment industry veterans together to launch a movement. This conference proved to be an effective tool in teaching Biblical principles to up and coming artists to learn valuable skills in becoming a professional in the music industry. It also gave independent artists a chance to perform in front of their peers and gave them a chance to meet some of their musical heroes in the faith. Last year’s performers included, Mr. Del, TK, IRocc Williams, Pettidee, Canton Jones, and Lisa McClendon just to name a few. This year on August 29th-31st 2008, Holy South Ministries are doing it again; “The Rapture” Hip-Hop Conference is going to another level for the second year in a row of bringing more in-depth classes and a panel discussion from some of the industries veterans to give wisdom to independent artists.

· The Cost is $30 for Pre-Registration and it will be $50 at the door for the entire conference.
· The Agenda for the conference is as follows:

Friday August 29th: Networking Meet and Greet Party from 6pm on that evening. Independent artist showcase begins after the Meet and Greet Party; artists to be announced shortly and admission is free and open to the public.

Saturday August 30th: Classes begin at 10am and cover such topics as: Grind 101, Hip-Hop and Ministry, Mainstream Takeover, plus a Panel Discussion on various topics covering the trends and business in the music industry today. Saturday night starting at 6pm The Rapture Concert starring: Mr. Del, TK, Canton Jones, IRocc Williams, Shei Atkins, and much more!! The concert admission Is Free and open to the public.

Sunday August 31st: Starting at 1pm NU Soul Worship and the Word by Pastor Del of City of Refuge Ministries.
